Tex WilkesBilly joined the USAF in 1995 and served in several operations in Southwest Asia to include Operation Northern and Southern Watch and Kosovo. While stationed at RAF Lakenheath AFB in England he served on the Honor Guard for 3 years. In 1999 “TEX” headed back to America to go to Oregon State University. At Oregon State University he studied Athletic Management, Development and Training. Before he could finish his degree 9-11 happened and he wanted to get back into the fight. He enlisted in the US Army to be a tank turret mechanic. His first deployment was to Iraq during the surge where he served 18 months straight just North of Baghdad in Operation Iraqi Freedom OIF 06-08 and OEF). In 2007 Billy decided he wanted to do more to help make a difference, so he volunteered to become an EOD Technician. Billy graduated NAV School EOD in January 2009 and was attached to the 84th Ordnance Batallion- 162nd EOD Ordnance Company at Ft. Riley, KS. While in the 162nd EOD Billy deployed to Iraq for second time serving as an EOD Team Leader helping fight the IED War in Iraq. This term he served in OEF once again. He now serves at Ft. Lee, VA as an EOD Instructor. So being a volunteer for 4 Wheel 2 Heal just made sense to him to do what he can here at home to help the Warriors heal.
